curved parts in hardware

We have ordered 2 of these bag door latches. When we first installed the lock handle was very difficult to turn and didn't seem to align properly. After comparing the two we bought, the one we installed had a curved part on the inside. We installed the second one in its place, and everything is fine now. I can only hope they replace the latch because by the time our builder was able to install it it was past the return date. It doesn't seem to matter as it was never opened until the day of installation. I will post my exchange experience after seeing what they do for me.
