I have read in many articles that dual hose portable air conditioners are much better than single hose units because fresh air cools the compressor. So I ordered this Whynter 12000BTU device. Pros: The device is solidly built, doesn't weigh too much, rolls easily and isn't too big. Cons: First, one of the four outer straps was missing. When we ripped the lid off the bottom of the box, everything inside fell out and spilled onto the floor. Was it like this from the factory? Has it already been used and returned and Revane sent it in this form? Who knows. It came as a shock that the components weren't packaged and fastened properly. So it was a very bad first impression. It was difficult to put the ends on the tubes. It was loud, not terrible, but louder than the advertised decibel rating, at least as tested in the app on my phone. It should serve a room of about 300 square meters. ft. The area of the room in which he was located is 260 square meters. ft. Although the fan blew through the room, the unit sweated from above. The air directly in front of the vents was so cold that condensation formed, causing the humidity in the room to rise by more than ten degrees (from 57% to 67% to 69%). It was during the New York days when the humidity was around 40%. We keep our thermostats between 73 and 77 degrees depending on the outside temperature and humidity. At night, the compressor would not turn off for hours. You have to increase the temperature to turn it off. Once that happened, all the condensation on the vents blew moisture into the room. So the temperature in the room changed from cold sweat to hot sweat all night. We used an insulated duct sleeve to prevent heat from escaping back into the room. The device was returned and we received a full refund. I would not recommend a portable air conditioner with two hoses. Compared to our other portable single tube device, this particular device was a colossal failure. You can read my review of a Honeywell device I bought in the spring and it works great.
