Reasons they're perfect for me and maybe you too: They're strong enough to get through the maze of ice cubes, that fill my cup. Silicone doesn't do this - they're wide enough. I drink soda without carefully sipping it. I bought "nice" straws that were too narrow for the job. They went perfectly with my signature glass - the best glass ever - even when I knocked it over as soon as a drop came out.
