Simple product difficult to use

This product is exactly what it says it is and I really want to like it but. The simple idea behind this product is to place these strips in the corner channel of your table saw and then build a square (or corner) cutting platform on top of them. First, the strips are a tight fit in my saw, and while smooth and smooth, they don't slide easily into the channel (of course, saws can be different). I tried using both channels on my desk but with two channels connected it literally wouldn't budge. I had to remove one of them. I also messed up a length by using a 1/2 drill bit to countersink the screw. The bit hooked onto the strip and made an oblong 1/2 hole in place of the number. I even did it twice. It was with a drill - they need to be clamped. For the small through hole I drilled the whole thing twice. This material melts as you drill, so the hole fills up a bit. I've found that it's best to drill larger than normal holes to give them a little wobble. This helped in two ways. As other reviewers have pointed out, if the screw or screw head is overtightened, a bulge will form in the channel. They are already so tight that even the slightest curve slows movement. Even if your holes are NOT EXACTLY aligned and the channel has the slightest curvature, it will stop moving. If your holes are slightly larger than normal and you are not over tightening the screws, this will only allow for tiny side to side movement of the channel - SMALL but enough to keep the channel straight overall. You want to be able to slide the screw arm through the hole with ease. On a 24" deep slide with 24" wide strips I used 4 countersunk screws. As simple as this application is, it's quite difficult to get it right. DO NOT overtighten, this bulge is difficult to remove. My latest slide works perfectly and is square in shape. I'm going to put a square of clear acrylic on the near edge to protect the blade at the end of the cut. A mistake I made for sure, on the underside of the slide I definitely ran a stripe with a wood texture. I haven't done this and I think it makes my sled a little more sticky than it should be due to the extra friction.
