March 2019 Update Automotive & Vehicle Electronics

Camera System That Requires No Wire Cutting Or Splicing! Should be a catch. NO! Read all other reviews. You are telling the truth. This camera plugs directly into the factory wiring harness! It's amazing how quick and easy installation is. I've been involved with cars my whole life. I've installed audio, alarm and lighting systems before, so I know how to remove panels and route cables. It was by far one of the easiest setups I've ever done. And if you're not familiar with this stuff, don't worry. It's not insanely difficult. Just take your time, this is not a race. In total it took me almost 2 hours. I could have rushed a bit and gotten it done quicker, but I made sure everything was nice and tidy. And be sure to watch the installation video on YouTube. It's very helpful to see how it's done before you do it yourself. Now for the camera itself. This is great. I was concerned that as an aftermarket unit it might be grainy, fuzzy, or have alignment issues. No way. The image of this camera is no worse than that of Toyota. It has a good wide field of view and excellent marking lines, and also has a "dimming" function. There may be more software in the car, but it works with this camera. When I drive out of the garage the image is clear, but when I step out into the sunlight the image automatically brightens to match the ambient light. As for the quality of this device, it is very good. Doesn't look like cheap junk. The camera is firmly and securely attached to the car. In general I like it. My wife loves this. We couldn't ask for more. Now the car seems to be finished. If you are thinking about rear view camera, do yourself a favor and choose PYvideo. * Make sure you know which camera you need! First I ordered the one for the Toyota Camry. Then I saw that there is a camera specifically for Camry SE models. This helped as I didn't have to take out the radio. Update: Less than a year after purchase, my wife informs me that the camera will no longer turn on. So I take a look and look for a cut wire or a disconnected plug. I didn't find any cuts or breaks. I contacted the seller and they were amazing. They sent me a replacement camera (not the whole set) very quickly. Plug it in and we've got a camera again. Well, it's March 2019 and the camera is down again. From what I've read on occasion, the camera will not work if the wires are severely bent or crumpled. Mabye, it's a problem, but it's still really frustrating. Great starter product when it works but doesn't seem to last.
