Bought to try and cool an outdoor camera and they work as advertised. My first impression came as I held it in my fingers and waited for a slight change in temperature. Hooked it up to a 12 volt battery and had to throw it away almost immediately. It was only now that I realized that although my index finger was almost burned, my thumb was icy. I can understand why people say they will self-destruct if they don't have a way to dissipate heat, but c'mon - pumping heat from side to side is what they're supposed to be doing! I bought a small 40mm copper heatsink with a 12v fan built in and these things will run all day if you can get the cold out the other side. Amazing great technology and great product
