We have been using the Seychelle water jug for 15-20 years so we are very familiar with the wetting and rinsing process. We decided to try the more expensive alkaline filters as a Christmas present. We pre-filter our tap water through Brita to remove some of the larger stuff as Seychelles clogs up too quickly if we don't. The new alkaline filter in the Seychelles worked well for the first week but by the end of the week there was almost no water going through. We flushed both filters and tried again; worked slowly for about a week before clogging completely. Washed again, worked even more slowly for another week. We washed it off one last time and it wouldn't start up again, or it did, but it was like a drip per minute, which just doesn't work since we're going through a few gallons of water every day. After all these trials we gave up alkaline filters and went back to regular filters which worked fine. We're retired and don't have much money to spare so it was a sad, sad waste of money. Can't tell if this actually made the water more alkaline or not as I never got far enough to test the water.
