Pepper Mill

This is one of the few items that I am willing to give a full 5 stars for, as it met or exceeded all of my expectations. As others have repeatedly praised, this thing outperforms the competition in speed and shredding efficiency. I notice sporadic complaints about the small tank size, but it's actually about the same size as most other similarly sized coffee grinders, it's just that people don't realize they're actually using the pepper much faster due to the grinding speed. For illustration, I now have homemade recipes that call for 2 full tablespoons of fine (particle size ≃ 0.5 µm) freshly ground pepper. I encourage anyone to use a different grinder to produce that amount in 5 minutes (no arm waste). Material and workmanship are solid, with hard ceramic for both parts of the grinder, a metal hex drive shaft, metal handle and screw. on the cover, two thick plastic rings (inside) that support and align the shaft, a plastic roughness adjuster on the base, and a wooden outer casing and handle. After almost a year and a half of use, this grinder still works like new. A few tips:・Because the mechanism is very efficient, depending on the grind setting, considerable elbow force is required to grind. Improve leverage by holding the grinder body as close to the top as possible without touching the metal crank baseplate.・The crank baseplate rotates directly against the wooden body, so don't tighten the top cap, screw it she just tight . the least resistance. This reduces grinding friction and increases durability. If you find the screw cap loosens over time, make a habit of screwing it back on before grinding.・You may not be able to accurately target the ground pepper. If you need to measure it or need to measure it accurately, grind it into a cup or saucer and shake/pour it out.・To prevent steam and moisture from clogging the grinding mechanism, do not grind directly over hot or boiling food. Grind into a cup or saucer and shake/pour from there.・The feed hole is small (maybe a little over 1 inch). To keep the peppercorns from flying over the counter, get (or make) a funnel large enough to fit around the entire opening, or small enough to slip between the drive shaft and the body of the grinder ( but still big enough for all the peppercorns). ). ). Use your finger to gently toss the peppercorns into the funnel to get them moving. Don't try to shake the hopper or coffee grinder, it won't end well.・Because the drive shaft is hexagonal, if you want a ridiculous amount of ground pepper for some reason, you can go mad, scientist, and handle the others. Drill (any with a three-jaw chuck will do).
