We use these to trim our goats hooves so this may vary slightly from the standard rating. The scissors have a solid construction with a good set of quality contour handles. The spring action is gentle and provides precise control when working with "fast" hooves, avoiding damage or accidental cuts. The latch is easy to operate with your thumb or forefinger (depending on how you're holding it), making it great for one-handed operation (essential when you're fighting goats). The tips of the scissors are narrow enough to clean the inside of the hoof (even on our Nigerian midgets) but rounded enough not to pierce their tissue. They do well with clean and sharp clippings so they don't tear overgrown hooves which can lead to infection. Maybe that's not their main purpose, but they're perfect for what we use them for!
