BUYER ATTENTION: First you need to practice using this set on pieces of wood or furniture that you don't need. Once you know exactly how much to apply and when to wipe it off, it works fantastic! DETAILS: I've spent almost a whole day walking around the house fixing all of our furniture for the last 10 years (two violent kids so there was a lot of damage). I ended up using almost all the colors of the markers because our rustic style uses all kinds of types. Our furniture is now like new! It even worked on our laminated cabinets and bookshelves, which I wasn't expecting! I'll say I messed up a few parts first (see the warning above). If you are using markers I suggest you apply a thin layer and IMMEDIATELY wipe off with a paper towel. Repeat until you get the effect you want. You can always apply another coat if it's not dark enough, but if you wait too long to wear it down some imperfections (depending on the type of wood) will absorb too much stain and look darker than the rest of the piece. I've noticed many differences in how wood absorbs stains between my pieces of furniture, so it pays to be conservative. I even mixed up some markers to get exactly what I wanted. It came out great! Personally I didn't find the pens useful, although I see other customers have. Remember: if your wood furniture is in a room that gets a lot of natural light, there's a good chance you can see it. the color difference between the treated area and the original stain. There is no way to get an exact match on any of these sets. But this kit comes very close. I don't mind because I'd rather have it close by than leave an obvious slight gouge or scratch exposing the natural wood underneath. The only other option would be to grind and restore the entire part and nobody has time for that!
