I use and sanitize a sponge in the dishwasher daily - and only ever use a dry, heated and abrasive powdered detergent/white vinegar cleaner. Designed for a gentle clean without scratches, I expected the sponge to fall apart after a month. These sponges can withstand daily dishwashing and dishwasher abuse and still last 4 months before showing any signs of cracking. I think it has a lot to do with the design and the material of the edge. I've only used these sponges for washing dishes with regular dish soap, baking soda, and the occasional white vinegar, with no harsh chemicals. The perfect stocking item and a steal for years to come!
