Review on ๐Ÿ“ป Kaito KA210 Pocket AM/FM NOAA Weather Radio: Reliable Black Portable Device by John Lewis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works well for the price and reason for buying.

Good reception (fairly loud, clear sound) on AM/AM and WX bands at high volume; Do not normally use headphones/earbuds as these are not required to receive WX or news updates or to play background music. The tuning is a bit finicky, but I already knew that from other reviews; Just take your time and it works fine. Bought for camping as a backup WX/news source out of cell coverage (or to save batteries in a cell phone or portable ham radio) and looks like it will work well for that purpose. In fact, he consumes a lot, only sitting in the truck for lunch, waiting for an appointment, waiting for his wife, etc. to save the truck's battery. For hiking, I put it in a small foam-wrapped zip-lock bag with a couple of spare lithium batteries to last through a trip or trips. Hard to beat for price/size/weight. I won't abuse it, but if I accidentally drop a pack on it, I won't be left with much money. Definitely 5 stars for what I paid and for the purpose I bought it for. Yes the antenna is fragile but when I lowered it starting from thicker sections instead of trying to close the antenna by breaking it from the top I had no problems. Either way, you usually only need to lengthen one or two of the thicker sections for proper reception. This is the goalkeeper.

Pros
  • Rugged design
Cons
  • Requires power outlet
