It Really Really Works

NOAA weather radio information is very important on the northern Olympic Peninsula, but my favorite hiking and camping spots are a long way from the nearest NOAA weather radio station. Reception was a constant problem on my travels until I bought a Revain Kaito KA210 Pocket AM/FM NOAA Weather Radio. This radio connects to all three weather stations on the Peninsula - NOAA Cape Flattery, NOAA North Puget Sound and Environment Canada Weather Radio across the Juan de Fuca Strait. AM and FM tuners…

In case of bad weather, have a weather monitor on hand. This pocket-sized portable device with weather range is small enough to take anywhere. Search my name and model number on YouTube for a detailed review. Features I like about this radio: * Reception is good on all bands. * The sound of the speaker is pleasant to the ears * Very convenient to carry in the pocket. Small size and rounded corners allow you to take it anywhere. Features that could be added or improved: * Improved headphone…

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • I'm worried

Great radio "concept" ie compact, NOAA AM/FM and weather channel, uses two (2) AA batteries, easy old school analog versus digital tuning, and low power consumption for long battery life. Unfortunately the AA battery cap/cover does not fit properly on the radio. Either a single anomaly or the plastic molds for the lid/cover or radio case just don't fit together properly. This is a serious flaw that makes excellent radio unacceptable. Unfortunately had to send back the defective Revain radio. If

Good compact emergency radio

Recently moved to Florida so needed an emergency weather radio and it was the cheapest available. Surprisingly, this radio, as small as it is, could be made even smaller with today's radio-on-a-chip technology. But it's a familiar and comfortable size and shape for most users. This radio doesn't come with much in the box, much of its weight and strength comes from the two AA batteries that power it (not included). But it's a solid performer with good reception on all bands. Nobody should expect

Works well for the price and reason for buying.

Good reception (fairly loud, clear sound) on AM/AM and WX bands at high volume; Do not normally use headphones/earbuds as these are not required to receive WX or news updates or to play background music. The tuning is a bit finicky, but I already knew that from other reviews; Just take your time and it works fine. Bought for camping as a backup WX/news source out of cell coverage (or to save batteries in a cell phone or portable ham radio) and looks like it will work well for that purpose. In…

Nice little radio very clear sound

My husband wanted to have a radio with him at the hospital while he was there for a while. All he was told was an old radio tape recorder, a battery type with an antenna. I couldn't find it anywhere in my local store! I read the Revain reviews on here and was ready to buy another model until I read another buyer's review that the other model was rubbish. Buy this particular make and model so I did! I put the batteries in and gave it a try before I went to the hospital and gosh I was pleased…

Pretty good radio for radio

I'm glad I bought this radio. I haven't had that since I was a kid. I remember listening to the Detroit Tigers baseball team and CKLW and WKNR radio in the days when rock was born. I can't believe how radio has improved. At night I put a transistor under my pillow and in the morning the 9 volt battery was dead. This new Kaito KA210 uses 2 AA and I put in the cheapest one I had which was 8 for a dollar at the local store. Two weeks and it's still working. The sensitivity of this radio is great…

Shockingly good for such an inexpensive NOAA/FM/AM combo.

Wow. I don't usually write reviews that quickly; I've only been using it for a day, I'll update if the quality degrades. I'm writing this early because it's immediately impressive for such a small, inexpensive radio. First, let me explain that I chose this radio as a radio to take down to my basement in the event of a tornado in my area, but I'm blown away by how well it works on both FM and AM. I'll make a list of the benefits (and possible downsides) that I foresee. Pros: - I can get NOAA in…

Surprisingly above radio expectations, very good performance.

This is a fantastic little radio. I am very impressed with his performance. I have about 50 radios of all kinds, tube, old transistor, shortwave, modern/digital, you name it. So I know what I'm talking about. This one does the job. It reliably receives with high sensitivity and fixes stations on all bands. On the VHF band, it picks up all the strong stations in urban areas, which other, much more sophisticated radios do with their own little whip antenna, about 8 inches long. Stations are hard…
