Revainrating 5 out of 5

Shockingly good for such an inexpensive NOAA/FM/AM combo.

Wow. I don't usually write reviews that quickly; I've only been using it for a day, I'll update if the quality degrades. I'm writing this early because it's immediately impressive for such a small, inexpensive radio. First, let me explain that I chose this radio as a radio to take down to my basement in the event of a tornado in my area, but I'm blown away by how well it works on both FM and AM. I'll make a list of the benefits (and possible downsides) that I foresee. Pros: - I can get NOAA in the basement (not always possible with other weather radios I've tried) - Dual AAs means I don't have to fiddle with hand cranks commonly used on other weather radios. They sound good in theory, but I haven't found one at any cost that doesn't break or fail within a year. hills nearby) - AM isn't perfect, but geez, I get AM nearly 150 miles away - something I haven't heard on new radio in years. it fits in my pocket while I'm busy around the house. There is no loss on most channels even when the antenna is down and even when walking around the house/walking the dog in the yard. Possible Cons (I haven't had any issues though, just something that might bother others/go wrong) - no, it doesn't seem strong enough to withstand a major fall so be careful - the battery compartment can be awkward to Open/close, can break if not careful - sounds tinny but did I mention that? That's to be expected from such a small speaker, but it's fine for those who primarily listen to talk programming / getting realistic in terms of tiny speakers and sound quality. This is a good radio for casual listening. For those unfamiliar with radio, it's worth noting that location can make a difference (not really a minus, just a tip) - ie don't put it near a monitor or TV where you'll get poor reception to get. Those are the only places I've had problems so far, but it's not the radio. then. I love it so much I will be getting a few as gifts for family and friends who don't have NOAA radio and for the few I know who are still registered. radio listeners like me. It's safe and definitely comfortable. worth the price for the quality.
