NOAA weather radio information is very important on the northern Olympic Peninsula, but my favorite hiking and camping spots are a long way from the nearest NOAA weather radio station. Reception was a constant problem on my travels until I bought a Revain Kaito KA210 Pocket AM/FM NOAA Weather Radio. This radio connects to all three weather stations on the Peninsula - NOAA Cape Flattery, NOAA North Puget Sound and Environment Canada Weather Radio across the Juan de Fuca Strait. AM and FM tuners work equally well, and the small speaker offers comfortable personal listening at a moderate volume. Works great as a bedside, pocket or backpack radio; small and light with long battery life.
