For $14 GPS is amazing. I was able to easily get a padlock by hanging it on the window of my downtown home, which is not conducive to good reception. I use it on the Raspberry Pi. The device is automatically detected as /dev/ttyACM0. You can attach this device and see the NMEA output after you connect it. If you want to set it up as an NTP source, do the following: # Update the sources sudo apt-get update # Install the gps daemon, libraries and NTP sudo apt-get install gpsd gpsd-clients python-gps ntp # to install the gps daemon and ntp server# edit the gpsd configuration files sudo vi /etc/defaults/gpsd# add/modify the following lines to the file. They may already exist, so just change them. You specify the device explicitly and NTP will not work without -nDEVICES="/dev/ttyACM0"GPSD_OPTIONS="-n"# Save/exit the above, then edit the NTP configuration files sudo vi /etc/ntp .conf # Add these lines to ntp.conf: # gpsserver 127.127.28.0 minpoll 4 maxpoll 4 preferencefudge 127.127.28.0 time1 0.000 refid GPS stratum 15# save/exit and then reboot. Screen with GPS trying to block or block. If you get a timeout, check your work and connections. If NTP is working, you should be able to type: ntpq -p. And you will see a line in the received text that looks something like this: *SHM(0).GPS. 15 l 14 16 377 0.000 3.505 3.556 If survey and coverage are zero, it doesn't work. Hope that helps!
