I had an old pearl necklace that I inherited; They are at least 60 years old and have never been overtightened as far as I know. They would cost about $60 to tie, so I bought 0.3mm silk cord instead. The needle is a very thin, twisted wire and the silk cord is already attached to it so tightly that the connection is difficult to see. Since the silk cord was thinner than I expected, I threaded the silk cord once through the strand, through the hole in the existing clip, tied a knot, out through the clip and back through the strand so I have a double row of silk cord. The true value of pearls is very low, but the sentimental value is very high,
