Why didn't I know that earlier! I have a region free Philips DVD player that I brought from Asia to watch DVDs there. The remote control died a few years ago and since the device came from overseas I didn't think it would be possible to find a replacement for it. I don't even know the model number. I bought a few different universal remotes and even thought I could hook them up to the player, but they only work as power and fast forward/rewind. It was just a pain, especially with audio. It has a language change button (which most of my foreign DVDs have) and a subtitle button. All the universal remotes I have or have looked at do NOT have this. You almost have to do a backflip to switch tongues. Like I said, I didn't even know the model number of my player, but the remote looked exactly like this one, so I took a chance seeing that it had an audio button. This one came out of the bag (nope, no nice packaging, no box, no instructions, I put the batteries in and it worked! Just like that! No fiddling with coding or anything. I'm very glad I stumbled across this. .
