I used this in a project to index some parts with unique barcodes. 1200 units! There was no way to get through this without making a costly mistake. Plug it into your laptop and it "turns" into a keyboard. Zap a barcode and it enters an alphanumeric barcode. What's great is that we were able to add a "Tab" key to switch between fields. Ha! Sweet. Saved us HOURS and was flawless and error-proof data entry.
