We have just started drying our own meat treats for our dogs. We've had a food dehydrator in the past that was loud and cheap, so we went with a higher quality unit without breaking the bank. This device meets all requirements! It's quiet, well built, with metal shelves and a drip tray on the bottom. If the trays are lined with parchment paper, there is no need to clean up the mess. We put it in the basement but honestly it's quiet enough not to bother us in the kitchen at all (I just don't want my dogs drooling all over the floor lol). Although I don't know how it will hold up in the long term, we are very happy with the purchase.
