I needed a small amount of fine grit to restore the paint on the boat. I used 1000, 2000 and 3000 then used compound and polish to finish. A larger grain should be mixed into one of the grains as I redid everything due to swirl scratches. I use a DA pneumatic as a grinding tool and a good quality DA polisher. For reference, I worked in the composites industry for over 30 years before retiring, so I polished a part or two. I should have paid more attention to the quality. Be careful - the scratches I got were so bad I had to redo it with a higher quality product.
