Good product but no advantage over ML for older recordings in my experience

This is a great solution for those who need a one stop solution to get it installed on the arm and no fuss music listen. I bought this for old battered records because I read online that a tapered stylus would be better for these records than my microlinear stylus (which is much more expensive). After some A/B testing, the conical shape wasn't any better. The ML stylus sounded better, tracked scratches better, and actually produced less surface noise on every record I tested. I'm not sure what the "smoothing" of the cone is supposed to do, but I haven't heard of it. I even recalibrated everything and checked the downforce for the new setting. I don't even try to make it through a hack because I doubt it would make much of a difference anyway. If you have an ML stylus and are looking for something to smooth out broken records, you might be better off simply saving money or investing in better record cleaning tools/products. Otherwise it's a great price, the sound is great and the shell is good quality. to smooth out broken records you might be better off simply saving money or investing in better record cleaning tools/products.
