This HAT did the job. I don't have much experience with other driver's hats, but for the price, this one isn't bad. However, I deduct a star. This doesn't give you a good opportunity to not power the Pi through the HUT. Using this with a Pi Zero will most likely cause the Pi to reboot frequently. I had to remove the 3V and 5V pins from the Pi and power the Pi separately. Which doesn't really matter because my second gripe with the board is that it forces you to power the PI from the motor driver. You need to turn on a jumper on the hat to disable this "feature" if needed. What is most commonly required is to power the motors separately from the PI or the microcontroller. You must consider the motor protection switch. When the Pi restarts, the motor driver continues with the last command received. It's not a bad board and even with its issues I would still buy it again.
