The monitor has been mounted on top of the camera in a shoe rack for a number of years. Sometimes I had problems with it coming off and falling off because the mounting screw came loose when shooting. Thought that would fix the problem. Very happy with the cage. Mounting holes at the top of the handles are also handy for things like flashlights and wireless microphones. The buttons are also useful for panning and tilting the camera. I had no problem with the cradle detaching. Problem solved and got more for the price than I thought.
