I was pleased to receive these 2 hydraulic parts to replace what I believe are factory parts that came with my 1997 Ford Explorer. I installed them and thought they were all installed. However, about a week ago I was involved in the repair of the instrument cluster lighting and had to disconnect the battery cable. I was proud that the hood could raise without the metal rod I used before installing the new hydraulics. When I reconnected the battery and lowered the hood, the left hydraulic system just fell off, and while I was trying to "snap" it back on, the right one also fell off. I was able to snap both pieces back but don't trust they won't come loose again which can be pretty dangerous. I'm disappointed that I have to go back to using a metal pole until I can find parts to support my truck's hood.
