First of all, it's also a laser plummet! When I bought it, nothing on the internet suggested it could be used as a laser plummet. It does a crosshair on the floor and on the ceiling, which I needed more than any of the other features. I almost didn't buy it until I saw a video online of someone using it as a laser plummet! That's the great thing about this laser, it's like everything in a laser! It makes a square grid on the wall, a square on the ceiling, and can even be used as a giant square on the floor! He shoots lasers wherever there is a laser! and they're all square, smooth, and see-through! I bought it primarily to do a custom wall frame, which is what I mean by that, like for basements and other areas where you really can't stand a prefab wall and it saves hours and hours of time! Sometimes on other projects, the beauty of this laser is that it sets up so quickly (about 2 minutes) that it becomes more practical than the old way of doing things in front of lasers. Can also be used as a chalk line! What I noticed: the magnet on this thing can lift the car! On the one hand it's good, on the other hand it's so wickedly strong that I'm always afraid the clamp holding the tool will break if I try to pry it from a metal surface. The case in which it is delivered is amazing! Perfect and has space for spare batteries. No pendulum lock. I have no idea why they haven't included it in every other Dewalt laser that has it, but this one, so why? /8" at 30' or even less, sorry if that happened to you
