I bought the J1 because my Olympus E620 was too heavy to carry around every day. The Nikon isn't exactly the kind of camera you slip in your business jacket pocket, but it's small enough to fit in the smallest of pockets in your bag. I just started using it and took all kinds of pictures, day, night, indoors, outdoors. It's intuitive to use (I didn't really consult the manual), even if you want to use advanced features like auto aperture or auto shutter speed. The results are brilliant, absolutely comparable to my Olympus E620, strong colors, excellent resolution. What I like is that you don't have to turn the flash off or on. You just have to let go of him, he will come out of the nest and the next shot will be with a flashlight. Another great thing is Nikon's turn on speed. Just grab the lens, rotate it to go into the shooting position, the camera turns on as you go.
