Good camera! on Camera & Photo

Still learning to use it to its full potential but good product, took good pictures with it, great camera, now considering buying an extra lens.

Pros

Cons

faulty, maybe this particular camera.

Maybe I just have a defect in the camera but after a few days it stopped working, I thought it was the battery but it turned out it wasn't. As far as I could tell, he took good, clear photos.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • I have doubts

Excellent aiming and shooting, rarely needs a flash for indoor shots.

I bought this camera because I was comparing a relative's N1 J1 to my Panasonic Lumix Compact and Nikon showed much better low light images without flash than I did prefer use it. I was very surprised because my Lumix was the first compact camera I knew that could take decent pictures indoors without a flash. The N1 J1 sent to me works exactly like my cousin's NI J1. I was very surprised at how well the N1 J1 captured bright, detailed shots in auto mode without a flash. I also have a Nikon D300

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Great little thing, best in the Camera & Photo category

I bought the J1 because my Olympus E620 was too heavy to carry around every day. The Nikon isn't exactly the kind of camera you slip in your business jacket pocket, but it's small enough to fit in the smallest of pockets in your bag. I just started using it and took all kinds of pictures, day, night, indoors, outdoors. It's intuitive to use (I didn't really consult the manual), even if you want to use advanced features like auto aperture or auto shutter speed. The results are brilliant…

Pros
  • good thing
Cons
  • modern

Very good camera for amateur photography

Firstly if you are a professional photographer don't bother with 1 series (either J1 or V1) just yet. Nikon will likely release more powerful professional cameras later in the lineup of compact systems. But for me it's perfect. I take photos as a hobby. As long as I get the frame I created as expected, my job is done. I have been using traditional Nikon SLR cameras for a long time. Because the amazing golden mean of a compact system is a new phenomenon. Also, I will not use any brands other…

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Hard to say

It's great for what it is.

There has been a lot of talk about the new Nikon 1 series cameras, a lot of frustration at the size of the CX sensor and the perceived poor quality compared to the larger Sony APS-C NEX cameras. Many enthusiasts were understandably disappointed by this move, wanting the best of all worlds for D3 quality in a point-and-shoot package. The J1 doesn't quite live up to this brand, but if you understand what you're buying and play to the camera's strengths, it's a great device for beginners…

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
