Review on Hitachi MAF0048 Mass Flow Sensor by Mike Rice

I have cleaned the original MAF sensor several times over the years but have always been able to not yet Remove a small amount of soot on some sensitive interior areas. Stealership charged $175 for a new one. Contacted the manufacturer Hitachi after looking at the latch on the original MAF cover on the engine. Sent it back to this shop. Ordered and installed 6 months ago, along with 4 new Denso o2 sensors. The engine responds much better! MPG is slightly better now due to the combination of MAF and the newness of o2. Tested an old Toyota FSM spec MAF and it was out of spec. The same with the old O2. Almost 20 years later, guess it's time? The truck purred nicely before the replacement (not even in spec) but man that amazing torque is back that I remember when it was new. The engine has become even smoother. Rules 4.7 l. Side note: Hitachi appears to be deleting Toyota stamps due to branding issues. The sensor does not appear to be used/refurbished as stated in another comment above. Looks just like the original. Don't worry as the original cap will pop out and snap onto the new sensor. Also, the cost is $55 versus $170. Made in the USA! Update 04/14/2021: It's been almost a year and the device works great. The truck is in great shape, the engine purrs on a 2002 Tundra 4.7L.
