Bought these to secure a swing that likes to go up when the kids are high enough. Up to this point, a set of sandbags was enough extra weight on the corners to keep the swing in place. The anchor kit was thought to have no problem replacing sandbags, but searched for "heavy duty" sandbags that penetrate the ground quite deeply. I liked that they sit flush with the bottom and don't pierce through. It's also easier to cut grass with a trimmer. I liked the idea that you could sink them with a drill, but suspected it wouldn't drill through the top layer of soil. It's not like this. Not at all. Maybe in the sand? I needed soil in the top layer. The first started unwinding about halfway as I screwed it in with a screwdriver inserted into the hook. Thrown away, tried a second one. He went through normally and secured one corner of the swing with a ratchet strap. Can't get it out by hand. The 3rd and 4th just broke off as they started screwing into the ground.
