There was a strong chemical odor coming from the packaging. I figured it would dissipate after a few hours of use. I even left it running in the garage hoping it would burn out. Even after a few days it's still annoying enough to irritate my sinuses. I will admit that based on the many good reviews this heater has received, I may be more sensitive to odors than others. And I use it in a relatively small home office. Thought I would pass this on to others who may be affected by the chemicals in their area. Luckily, Revain has a good returns program.
