Working but slow ethernet port

I bought this adapter to use with a MacBook Pro (all USB-C ports). I wanted to have a connection for an external VGA monitor, USB devices (mouse, keyboard) and Ethernet. All of these connections work HOWEVER the ethernet speed is only about half the speed I get with other adapters. Ethernet also seems unreliable, with intermittent outages. This is annoying with FaceTime calls and online conferences. I've had better performance with an Anker single-purpose USB-C adapter as well as a multifunctional hub. Conclusion: Attractive price and functionality. However, don't expect top performance, especially on the Ethernet side.
