This is a nice set of grips that outperform the nylon rope grips you usually see. They appear to be thick die-cast aluminum with some sort of coating. Not adonized, probably applied by dipping or spraying. A little QC could be used in the coating to get rid of burrs and the like. It's also slightly shiny. should be matte. The mounting hardware is just as sturdy and well thought out. I have 08 JK so you need a 1/2 socket with a 4 inch extension. The 1/2 nut ensures the shank bolt stays in the nut and does not fall into the fairing. Be careful. The Allen key isn't included, so I'm deducting a star. I've been fortunate to have a wide range of many sizes from previous auto parts purchases. Unfortunately I can't tell you the size. new instructions for redesigning products, and moreover, the instructions he gives for the previous article are WRONG for the new one! at a sloping end to the handle. Start with the side screw, screw it in, then install the top screw by first inserting the gasket properly, then hanging the handle and screwing in the screw. Slowly tighten both screws alternately to align them. The side screw should be the last one you tighten at the end. Overall this is a solid quality pen that is functional, looks cool and pairs well with the JK.
