Review on WORX WX051 Pegasus: The Ultimate Folding Work Table & Sawhorse for Every Handyman by Mateusz Sowa ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Overall it's not bad, but I expected more.

I took the workbench new at a discount, because in fact, if you make a workshop-on-the-balcony, then there is not much choice, if you do not make a strictly do-it-yourself workbench. Keter is smaller and worse built, the rest . it would be even more difficult to make a universal workbench out of the rest. So, I took cardboard and made layouts for 2 countertops: for a 100mm cast iron vice and for installing tools on the edge. Tomorrow a jigsaw arrives, I immediately take 18 mm plywood and make the first versions. I think that perfection cannot be achieved the first time, but the main thing is that a good result with this product can generally be achieved, which was the reason for the purchase. You will also need to make a panel for cutting and a base with screw supports for the steel leg (from the table), which will be used as a support for impact work on a vice. Actually, the ability to regularly (on the holes for the stops) to attach additional. cantilever tabletop with additional support - this is an important advantage of the design. When I finish it, I'll post a photo or here, or make a video review.

Pros
  • The main plastic elements are generally solid, the material is good. The general concept is good, it should (would) have turned out to be an excellent durable and at the same time compactly folding universal workbench . if it were not designed and made by the Chinese. These figures did everything to prevent the thing from being universally applicable. but there is a way out ;) Soft clamps and 4 regular stops are a nice bonus so that the first operations can be done already on the workbench. The main thing is the presence of through holes that can be used for rigid attachment of additional countertops. This feature and outweighed the bowl in favor of this product.
Cons
  • 1. The unfolded surface without additional makeshift supports will always be a "slide" due to the assembly curve. A small slide is given not only by the wings, but also by the ends of the supports, which make up the main stiffener of the workbench in the working position. But this is really not much, up to 2 mm per end thickness, i. E. due to the mobility of the plastic under load, it is leveled. 2. The wings of the workbench play slightly up and down on the struts. In principle, this jamb can be used in order to use additional supports for some work: there will just be an emphasis on regular 4 legs, and on additional. support. 3. Workbench, if used as a universal one, requires the use of additional countertops due to the excessive thickness of the edges, and they are immediately followed by deep voids, as well as due to the insufficient strength of large areas on the work surface where the stiffening ribs are cut. Of course, these zones are not marked in any way. Of course, all layouts and samples of countertops (at least 2 of them are needed) should be done by the user himself. For what? - because without them, even a stand with an engraver cannot be screwed to the edge so that it does not interfere. 4. Here too: the workbench does not allow side mounting of any tool that requires a strong base for itself. There is nowhere to put even a stupid clamp for a conventional drill, if not right under your arm. Well, at least under the left. 5. recesses for small items are located under the right hand, if you work while sitting. It's ketai, baby :( 6. Wing supports are just tubes of Chinese iron, thin pins and dumb loops at the points of attachment to the tabletop. Apparently, the Chinese god does not allow to do according to the mind.
