I probably already have the third set. I will donate the thicker (starting at $5) and more durable extra supplies I have to LYS, who then donate knit supplies to shelters and prisons. ongoing projects as smaller needles are easily deformed and/or broken over time. This winter I was knitting a very tight Christmas ornament and THREE 2.0mm needles broke. I also have a bun that has warped from tight knitting - I can try soaking it to smooth it out. I would really like to buy half a set of just the smaller selection of needles in this set. Aside from being easily warped/broken, they tend to be of really good quality. From time to time I get a splinter that breaks off at the tip, which can render the end of the needle useless if I can't break off or file off the splinter properly. All those negative comments aside, you get what you pay for. and I buy these inexpensive needles knowing that 1) I'll probably have to replace the smallest ones and 2) have enough of the rest to donate extra needles to new knitters or LYS to charity.
