Flatness is VERY important

I bought this humidifier because I liked the idea of a device that didn't have water constantly flowing while it was running, but instead constantly draining it from the bottom (like most other humidifiers do is) . This device appears to be much more efficient as it completely fills the lower reservoir and shuts off allowing the filter to slowly suck up the water. Installation was fairly easy, down to the point of aligning the device's plastic casing. Leveling from left to right was as easy as adjusting the level on the top of the unit when drilling screws. But back-to-front alignment has become an absolute nightmare. The old humidifier I replaced was mounted on the side of the duct which had an "X" pressed into it for structural support. This accommodated the fact that I didn't have a flat surface to install the unit, but I didn't want to crash into the canal elsewhere. There really is no right place to check the level from the front to the back of the unit. the inner plastic frame wraps around the entire opening. The bottom edge also sticks out. It got to the point that I had to remove the top of the filter frame and pull out the filter pad. I then put the top back on and put the filter cage back in (without the filter pad) and was able to line up the two bottom edges of it. This actually makes a lot of sense as this filter housing is the most important part that needs to be level when water is running down it. The plastic frame of the humidifier itself is secondary. I ended up having to add some adjustable spacers in my channel to push the top of the channel out and the bottom in. Try installing on the shallower side of the channel. The only other issue I had was that the humidifier requires a different control box if you want to connect it manually. The manual doesn't show it well. I wanted to start the device in manual mode until I started the outside temperature sensor. and on the schematic it looked as simple as two wires (like the old block) but in manual mode it still required about 6 of the 8 wires connected. All in all I think I'll like the device now that I seem to have fixed the issues with my particular setup. 3
