MiFi works great in most cases. The signal reception is normal, the device is very portable. It also has an antenna connector if you want to buy an antenna to boost the signal. This device is invaluable on the go and I have no problem using my VPN at work. (Server 2012) I am a pilot. I use this in hotels wherever I go so I don't have to put up with the slow or crazy internet they have. The large battery is available here at Revain. The supplied battery is sufficient for hours of continuous use or a day of standby. I am using a SIM card from my Verizon 4G phone to get unlimited data on the device due to my unlimited data plan. (It's rumored that if you overuse unlimited data, you'll see a huge bill or get disconnected.) (iPhone 4s sim didn't work with this device) Cons: My device tends to freeze on long, heavy downloads like Netflix to heat up. . If it's in a cool place when it boots up, it's fine as long as it's fully charged and powered by the included USB power adapter. It gets hot when streaming Netflix on battery power in an area with a weak signal. If it gets too hot, it freezes and you have to remove the battery to restart. (A firmware update might fix this one day) Overall it works. I use it for partial internet on the go. The price on Amazon will save you over a hundred dollars.
