I was trying to connect Chromecast audio to an IR audio receiver I have here (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BKX8BV7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) . While trying to figure out how to do this, I found out that Google has built a digital optical audio output into the 3.5mm jack on the Chromecast audio device! I have a receiver that connects my TV to some JBLs (speakers and a subwoofer) and I also wanted to be able to play music wirelessly from my phone. I'm going to connect a digital optical audio switch so TV and Chromecast sound goes to the speakers without having to unplug one at a time. The cable works and makes a high-quality impression. I was amazed that I could see the light shining through the cable once I connected it to my Chromecast Audio.
