This is of course a preference. I have a three pound Yorkie and the bag for her is huge. The bag is huge for me. I am 5 feet 4 inches. If I put on a bag with the shortest possible straps, it will hang below my waist. It's a messenger bag, that's what they do. I was just hoping that the straps could be shorter so my dog doesn't keep bumping into the hip/thigh area when walking. If everything is fine with your dog, then there is no problem for you. The bag looks like a sports bag. There is no hard ground, it is soft ground. The dog comes in and collapses. I think the picture in this product is a bit deceptive as the bottom looks flat with a dog inside. Two practical pockets, but not much fits into them. On the one hand (it has velcro) you can put an iPhone 7 Plus in it and it sticks out a bit (but then you can't close the velcro). You can stow small things in another pocket and close it with a zipper. There is a D ring to attach your dog to but no leash. So you need to get your own rope/ short leash to attach your dog to. The tip pulls up a little when you pull the strings. The bodice also closes, but not completely. I have included photos of what the bottom looks like on me as well as the two pockets on the sides of the bag.
