I purchased this CableDirect – TOSLINK cable, optical audio cable, to connect an LG TV to a Zvox sound base. I already had a stock optical cable that was as thinner than a piece of uncooked, dry spaghetti, and it worked fine. My concern was that it was so flimsy that it could easily be damaged and the one of the connectors tended to become stuck once engaged.The CableDirect optical audio cable provides a measure of reassurance, perhaps comfort, in that it is thicker. The connections are more industrial looking and more solid than on the stock cable. If there is any difference in the sound quality, I am not qualified to assess where that might lie. What I wanted was a more durable cable, and, oddly, one that looked better, even though I cannot see the cable through the TV.I've used other cables from CableDirect, and I have found them to work fine and to be durable. There is some measure of comfort, for me, in purchasing products from companies I have had good experiences with and whose names relate to the products sold instead of some odd, random moniker that appears to have been spewed out of a word generator.Of note there are lots of derisive comments about the "gold" plating on the cables and why it makes no difference in delivering an optical signal. In my brief persusal of those barbed assessments, I did not discover how the "gold" interfered or degraded the optical signal, which would, in my view, be of more consequence. So, go gold!I'm happy with my purchase and this cable and will likely never think much more about either now that this review is concluded.
