I am a very active, athletic person and have tried many brands of athletic shoes. These are my favourites. I have 3 pairs of NB 1080s --- one from v9 and 2 from v8. Both are great, the v8 is obviously cheaper now so consider that one if you're looking to save some cash. I have chronic back, neck and shoulder pain. My trainer recommended them and I spent the money (despite the fact that I didn't like the price and generally considered the New Balance more like my favorite sports fashion shoe). I will continue to buy them in good faith. They are very comfortable. V9s tend to rub the heel a bit as the outer part of the shoe is thinner than the V8 and curves inwards a bit. So far, however, this has not been a problem. I do everything in it from working out to work, walking, shopping, etc. If you're looking for a firmer, more permanent support, this is NOT for you. They are definitely not suitable for tennis or similar sports, as lateral movement is hardly supported. That being said, they're still great for cross training.
