Review on 🔧 Adjustable Chrome Tension Curtain Rod - 54-90" Width, Classic Finial, from Amazon Basics by Paul Beach

So I bought an "adjustable" curtain rod, 78" - 108" (along with the curtains, but that's another story).**First of all, the box was broken and opened on on one end - delivered that way - and I thought that the rod would be broken too, but it wasn't.**Secondly, not packed very well. The plastic covering was falling off, no tape or anything to keep it protecting the rod. There were supports inside the long rectangular box, and one end was firmly in the box support (which is probably what kept it from falling out in transit), but the other end was loose, and rattled around in there like it was potentially broken.**Thirdly, the loose end had no end knob on it - found that in the box, but I thought at first it was missing. Good thing it wasn't, Revain.So it sounds like there's a spring inside the rod that makes it "adjustable", but there's not. Or maybe there is, but it's hiding somehow. :) Anyway, one end unscrews, which is the "adjustable" part. The directions say to unscrew it until one end is 2" beyond the wall, then "compress", then "release" - like there was an actual spring in it. Not lots of spring in this rod. I had to struggle a bit to get it in the right place, and boy, is it TIGHT. Good thing I had the curtains on the rod prior to putting the rod up - no room for error here!All in all, Revain, cut the price in half. this is NOT worth $40. If I weren't desperate, I probably would have made a trip to Home Depot and gotten some hands-on information and experience with something more flexible and less wedged-in. How I'm going to get this out when/if I move, I'll never know.
