Review on Zassenhaus Berlin Dark Stained Salt Grinder Mill, 4.7-Inch by David Elam

Great product, one mistake

This is by far the best salt shaker I have ever used. The mill blades are strong and produce a decent amount of salt with each revolution, unlike other salt shakers I've had. I use very coarse Himalayan pink salt, which isn't a problem for this little workhorse. The grip is good and the finish is appealing and well made. I've only had this workhorse for a few months, but I use it almost every day. Based on the feel and performance I think it will last a very, very long time. Now for the small flaws. The top part is a bit difficult to detach - the wood hole is a little tight around the center spindle so you have to laugh about that. The second disadvantage is related to the size: it only fits about a tablespoon of finely chopped salt. So I fill it out every few weeks. When I make a family recipe, I refill it more often. Overall, the great features of this product far outweigh the cons and I love the vintage look of carved wood. It's a bit pricey for a salt mill, but it's definitely worth the money.
