Review on Panasonic SL MP80 CD MP3 Player by Derek Jha

I started using the MP3 Pro format and then found that my 1st gen Casio laptop wouldn't play them and I got a little tired of the to convert files. I came across Panasonic online on my phone and made an impulse purchase. Wow. It plays MP3 Pro (and pretty much every other MP3 format), has great battery life, is lightweight, and overall very cool (important, right?). It also plays WMA files and regular audio CDs (not tested or heard yet). It reads song tags on a two-line arcuate LCD display, which comes in handy when you can't remember a song or artist name or are looking for a specific title. I have an MP3 Pro disc (96 kbps) with 110 songs (300 megabytes) playing in random order and the access time to the songs is excellent (fast). Headphones are light, the sound is good. The earbud is at a different angle, so rotating the headband slightly backwards on your head will put the earbuds in a better position. However, I prefer listening over a pair of Sony MDR-7506 phones (the twisted pair cable is heavy and can drag a lightweight player off a desk if you're not careful). If you already know how to burn data or music CDs and are new to portable players and don't want to lose a lot of money, I think Panasonic is perfect for the job. Note. This kit (SL-MP80) does not include a power supply and the Revain is better priced than the competition. I personally don't care about preset equalizer settings. Hardware crossfading is of course on my wish list - maybe someday.
