I've had a Sterilite plastic trash can in my kitchen for ages, through two houses. I never realized how inadequate it was for the kitchen--it's just one of those things I didn't think about--until upgrading to this trash can. It's sleeker, nicer-looking, heavier (doesn't skid all over the floor when you throw something in the trash as the lightweight Sterilite did, and toddlers can't tip it over), easy to clean with a removable inner liner bin, and the odor-blocking filter is a nice bonus. No more stinky trash! We've had several houseguests even compliment us on our new trash can, which is hilarious. Our Sterilite found a new home in the garage, storing yard trimmings.The only thing I don't like about this trash can is that it's hard to get the standard 13-gallon bags around the rim of the can. I struggled mightily and always ended up with one corner coming loose, which was annoying. Then I figured out that if you pull up the inner liner can, it's easy to get the 13-gallon bag around the rim, then you lower it back down. But that's not immediately intuitive. 16-gallon bags work fine too, although those are harder to find--my grocery stores never seem to stock them.
