45 years ago I learned to weld on a state-of-the-art arc welding machine with a transformer. I haven't welded much since then, but the first time I used this little welder I felt like I hadn't forgotten anything! It's amazing what you can do with this lunch box sized device. It produces a good, well-controlled arc and has enough power for medium-sized projects. Haven't tried it on heavier materials yet, but seems perfectly capable of doing what it says on the tin. My only negative comment (recommendation) is to toss the included welding accessories (face shield and wire brush/slag grinder) in the trash and get a real welding mask and slag grinder if you don't already have them.
