It can reliably outperform Intel's 5960X by a factor of two or more in multithreaded workloads. Just for kicks, I ran a comparison in 3DMark and found that there were exactly twice as many parrots. There were no hiccups or blue screens of death, therefore it can only be assumed that AMD was responsible. Positives are listed below: First, the addition of the Intel 5960X's 16 cores and 32 threads has improved performance in practically all programs. This is most evident in the processing of videos. A good number of motherboards to pick from; X570 is particularly well represented. Third, the heat dissipation is excellent; under load, with the NZXT Kraken, the temperature only rises to 35-40 degrees. Hmm. The air coming out of the radiator is lukewarm at best. The negatives: 1. Price. The best stones, however, have historically cost around $1,000. Second, this might be the final x86 CPU I use before switching to ARM. Unpleasant little thing; OEM took the processor and the courier delivered it in an unattractive bubble wrap. Okay, a plastic container is better than nothing. Fourth, the 9950X's BIOS might not be upgradable in the next generation or two due to speculation that AMD would unveil a new platform in that time.
