Something is wrong with the USB-A connector

Update: Even the replacement cable loses connection between the camera and the laptop every few seconds, as does the first cable. Actually, it's a little worse. Using the other two USB cables and the amp extension cable, the connection between the camera and laptop is secure, so there was an issue with the Tether Tools cable. a few seconds. When using other cables on the same ports, the connection to the camera is reliable, so the cable from Tether Tools is suspect. When comparing the USB-A connector to other known working cables, I found that the Tether Tools connector is slightly smaller and the outer metal is thinner and softer. I then added a USB-A to USB-C adapter to the cable. With the adapter, the camera connects securely to the USB-C port. It's not ideal, but I can get by. On the plus side, the cable feels solid and well shielded. A right angle connection to the camera is welcome and fits into the Nikon D850's cable clamp.

Pros
  • Optimized energy efficiency and full shielding
Cons
  • General information
