Soft at T-1.5 but excellent at T-2.5. The price has little to do with the cost of this lens - I use a non-DS Rokinon kit for video while keeping my Canon L-series glass at home. I even went back to using manual focus for photos with Rokinon. I'm from the old school when that was all we had - there's definitely something more organic and personal about manual focus and prime lenses. I find it interesting that they match my 35mm Rokinon filmer, which I have owned for years, in terms of color and contrast. I can't say the same about any of my L-series lenses. Updated April 1, 2016. I had the opportunity to take some shots in Napa Valley with the Sony A7Rii and I think the lens worked very well. The more I use the entire line, the more I appreciate the quality, especially at this price point. It also took 50 and 85mm to add the 24 and 35mm and color/contrast adjustment throughout the set. My L-series lenses are gathering dust at the moment. Over 2.8 and Rokinons are hard to beat, let alone the price.
