Review on LG 38BN95C-W UltraWide πŸ’» Thunderbolt Connect 3840X1600P, 144Hz, Curved Monitor by Donald Mitchell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent ultra wide format for gaming, productivity and general use. Thunderbolt is great for Mac

This is the same panel as the 38WN95C. Yes, you can easily turn off the power saving mode. Connecting to your Mac is convenient with pass-through charging. The refresh rate over Thunderbolt is limited to 75Hz. You CANNOT use Thunderbolt and DisplayPort simultaneously in Picture-by-Picture mode; Restriction with controller I think? The immersion is incredible for gaming. My GPU can't handle 3840x1600 resolution at high framerates, but the picture is great. For general use (I set it to 120Hz for 10-bit color) the refresh rate seems as smooth as my old 144Hz monitor. Built-in speakers can be VERY loud. I was shocked. They impress with sound quality for display speakers, but don't expect audiophile quality. There is no bass. A few downsides are that while the monitor can be VERY bright, black doesn't appear black. The variable backlight is one of my favorite aspects, but the brightness fluctuates when the sky is overcast. I have to say the monitor is far from the window so maybe that's my fault. In any case, the automatic brightness adapts perfectly to the interior lighting. Finally I have 3 stuck pixels. I have to get out of my seat, move my face half a meter away and turn my head to find her. Pixel Un-Sticker just made one of them smaller. After a week of use I don't even notice it, let alone think about it (and I can get nervous about such things). They are literally invisible from my normal sitting position or when I lean to the side, even 4.5 stars. The above downsides are minor to me, and other displays in this segment have their own issues, some of which are far worse. I've been looking for a suitable ultra-wide for almost 2 years now. If I could get a 3080 now.
